Song of the Mountains 5 -Day Jeep Tour

Itinerary
Day 1: Tbilisi → Tsalka (Dashbashi Canyon) → Vardzia → Khertvisi Fortress → Akhaltsikhe (Rabati Castle)
Tbilisi – Start your trip in Georgia’s buzzing capital. It’s a mix of old charm and modern energy — from the winding streets of the Old Town to the golden dome of Sameba Cathedral. Catch a view over the city at Narikala Fortress and stroll down Rustaveli Avenue, packed with cafés, galleries, and street life.
Tsalka (Dashbashi Canyon) – Head out to this beautiful region known for its mix of cultures and its jaw-dropping canyon. The short 3 km hike leads you to a dramatic waterfall, and you can stop by St. George’s Church, which dates back to the 10th century.
Vardzia Cave Monastery – One of Georgia’s coolest spots. This entire 12th-century cave town is carved into a cliff — with tunnels, stairways, and hidden chapels. The hike takes about 90 minutes, and the views are unreal.
Khertvisi Fortress – A quick stop at one of the oldest fortresses in the country, built all the way back in the 2nd century BC. It’s got major “medieval stronghold” vibes and sits right above the Mtkvari River.
Akhaltsikhe (Rabati Castle) – End the day exploring this massive fortress complex that mixes Georgian, Ottoman, and Armenian styles. You can walk around for about 45 minutes, or take your time and visit the museum — it’s easily a two-hour stop if you do.

Day 2: Akhaltsikhe → Green Monastery → Borjomi
After breakfast, we’ll head to:
Green Monastery – A 9th-century monastery tucked deep in the forest, known for its mystical and serene atmosphere. The site is famous for its mysterious red “bloodstones,” which have fascinated visitors for centuries. Surrounded by peaceful nature, it’s a perfect spot to explore, reflect, and soak in history.
Borjomi – Next, we’ll arrive in Borjomi, a famous resort town known for its mineral waters and beautiful green surroundings. Borjomi Park, created during the Soviet era, remains a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike to stroll and relax.

Day 3: Borjomi – Gori – Ananuri – Stepantsminda (Kazbegi)
After breakfast, we’ll set off for a day of history, castles, and mountain scenery.
Gori & Stalin Museum – Gori is best known as the birthplace of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. The museum here preserves his personal belongings, photographs, and stories from his life and political career, offering a fascinating glimpse into history.
Ananuri Fortress – Sitting by the Zhinvali Reservoir, this well-preserved feudal fortress is a striking example of Georgian architecture mixed with Gothic elements. Ananuri was a major military and administrative center, and its walls and towers still impress visitors today.
Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) – Known as the king of the mountains, Stepantsminda is framed by snow-capped peaks and lush green meadows. The cliffs and alpine rivers feel alive with history, and the scenery is stunning year-round — colorful wildflowers in summer, a peaceful white blanket in winter. Being here in Kazbegi feels like time slows down, letting you fully take in the beauty of the mountains.

Day 4: Stepantsminda → Gveleti Waterfall → Gergeti Trinity Church → Truso Valley → Back To Stepantsminda
After breakfast, we’ll set out for another day of stunning mountain scenery and history.
Gveleti Waterfall– Just 7 km north of Stepantsminda, this beautiful waterfall is tucked into the Caucasus Mountains. You can reach it via a scenic 90-minute walk through lush forests and alpine meadows. Rich in local legends and folklore, the waterfall offers a peaceful, almost magical experience — perfect for hikers and nature lovers.
Gergeti Trinity Church– This iconic 14th-century church stands at 2,170 meters above sea level, overlooking the breathtaking Caucasus Mountains. Built during times of political turmoil, it served as a spiritual refuge and symbol of resilience. Its remote location and striking architecture make it a must-see, offering both historical insight and panoramic views that inspire awe.
Truso Valley– A stunning natural gem in the Caucasus, famous for its colorful mineral springs, ancient towers, and alpine landscapes. Walking through the valley, you’ll find old caravan trails, unique rock formations, and peaceful hot springs, all surrounded by wild, untouched nature. It’s a great place to connect with Georgia’s history and natural beauty.
Back in Stepantsminda– After exploring Truso Valley, we’ll return to Stepantsminda for the night.

Day 5: Stepantsminda → Mtskheta → Tbilisi
After breakfast, we’ll set out for a day full of history and spirituality.
Mtskheta– One of Georgia’s oldest cities and its spiritual heart, Mtskheta is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Once the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Iberia, it’s home to historic landmarks like Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari Monastery. These sites are masterpieces of Georgian architecture and stand as symbols of the country’s Christian heritage. Mtskheta continues to be an important pilgrimage destination where history and faith come together beautifully.
Jvari Monastery– This 6th-century Georgian Orthodox monastery sits atop a hill overlooking Mtskheta and the meeting point of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Jvari is one of Georgia’s oldest religious landmarks and a stunning example of early medieval architecture. The monastery offers breathtaking panoramic views, capturing both the spiritual and natural beauty of the region.
Back in Tbilisi – After exploring Mtskheta and Jvari, we’ll return to Tbilisi for the night.
